PANEL 1. A bit later as a couple of uniformed cops lead him away out of the alley to a patrol car. Noir stands talking to Riley.

RILEY: YOU'RE SAYING HE CONFESSED TO THE DEWEY MURDER?

NOIR: YES. AND HE'LL CONFESS AGAIN, WHEN YOU GET HIM DOWNTOWN. LORETTA LUNA IS INNOCENT.


PANEL 2. Medium close-up on Riley and Noir.

RILEY: AND JUST WHO ARE YOU, LADY? WHAT BUSINESS OF IT IS YOURS?

NOIR: I'M JUST A CONCERNED CITIZEN, LIEUTENANT.


PANEL 3. Medium close-up on Riley as he turns his head to watch the guy being put into a police car in the background.

RILEY: WELL FROM NOW ON, LADY, STAY OUT OF…


PANEL 4. Large panel. Wide angle on the alley as Riley turns back, to find Femme Noir is gone.

RILEY: …POLICE BUSINESS.

RILEY: WHAT THE –?

RILEY: WHERE DID SHE GO?


PANEL 5. Back in the narrator's office as he leans back in his chair, smoking, looking at his typewriter.
